Autumn / Winter 25 By Jamie Ferguson

Jamie Ferguson’s eye for clothes lines up neatly with how we approach every collection, so it only made sense to have him back to put our AW25 range through its paces. Over on his Substack, That Dusty Heat, he breaks down the details — the updates, the fabrics, the construction — that keep Stan Ray gear true to its roots.
It’s an honest, thoughtful and funny read that gets to the heart of what we do: practical design, durable materials, and clothes that only get better with wear.
"Blame the Canadian in me for this cheeky Mackinaw right here. I’m a sucker for a big, bold, Buffalo plaid check, although I will say that THIS check is actually a little softer in colour than the photo suggests. The lighter reds in it are almost pink giving it a slightly more subdued, washed feeling."
‘My Mom’s a Geography Professor’ would be how I’d sum up this look. Not that my Mom taught Geography, she taught Science but in this scenario I’m the Mom. That makes sense…
Big into flannel shirts this Autumn and this boxy option looks great tucked in or tucked out. I’ve paired it with the Standard 5 jeans which came in a Stone wash this season and I’m diggin’ the slouchiness of them.
Still using the Navy Plaid Flannel Shirt as the ‘hero’ piece in this outfit I decided to swap out the teach-chic and opt for the oddly named Zip Shirt instead.
I say oddly as it’s basically a nifty little blouson number. Kinda like a mechanics jacket but less bells and whistles. This is definitely a layering piece as it’ll be a teensy bit too thin for any colder temperatures but shove a burly Aran jumper underneath and wrap a wool scarf around the generous collar and you’re laughin’.
I’ve long espoused the genius of this M65 Parka, so I’m guessing I don’t need to revisit here but it’s the Quilted Liner I picked up this season that bears discussion.
The black colourway makes it a little more interesting than the standard olive/military options you’re usually faced with and this one comes with a funky lining; like those secret, RAF pocket squares from World War II but this will just lead you to the Davy Crockett National Forest or Lovelady instead.
